The Isle of Wight is within easy reach of London and the rest of the South of England. The Island is a traditional mecca for yachtsmen and provides some of the best conditions for watersports in the UK. Much of the Island is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers some stunning coastlines from which to surf. Please see the map below for routes to the Island.
Bembridge is a large village at the eastern end of the Island and boats a great range of places to stay, eat and drink. There are 2 main beaches within easy walking distance of the centre of the Village, providing a stunning setting for walks and relaxing after an energetic day out on the water.
Silver Beach at Bembridge offers an excellent venue for teaching both windsurfing and kitesurfing. In most wind directions the water is flat, with little or no shore-break, making for a hassle free environment to learn in. X-Isle Sports is situated on the embankment which surrounds Bembridge Harbour, and is approximately 200 metres from the beach where most of our teaching takes place.
We are located in Bembridge, which is on the eastern peninsular of the Isle of Wight. Our centre is on Bembridge Harbour along the Embankment Road. To visit the Island you will need to get to Southampton, Portsmouth or Lymington and then catch either a car or passenger ferry across. Ferries run on a regular basis and the crossing time is between 15 and 40 minutes depending on which route you take.
Once on the Island you should see sign posts to Ryde and from there follow the directions below. You can also below view our location and plan your route on Google Maps.
You will enter Bembridge from St. Helens and should drive round the harbour, past the house-boats on your left and Bembridge Outboard’s on your right. Just as you come to the green boatsheds on your left-hand side you should see our banners and entrance on the right, just before the Jet Ski shop. If you get to the Pilot Boat Inn then you have come too far.
You should enter Bembridge passing the airfield. You will then pass the Windmill and drive through the centre of the village, before going down the hill toward the Harbour and the Sea. At the bottom of the hill you will pass the Pilot Boat Inn on your left and then the Bembridge Sailing Club on your right. Just after the Jet Ski shop on your left and opposite the last green boatshed on your right, you should see our banners and entrance and car park.
